Porsche Macan GTS breaks cover at Tokyo Motor Show
Whenever a new Porsche car breaks cover, the company comes out with many variations soon after. One of the newer vehicles from Porsche is the Macan SUV. The vehicle has already made quite a name in the industry and Porsche has just revealed its fifth version to take the brand name ahead. The Macan GTS has made its debut at the Tokyo motor Show.
Being a GTS, it is evident that the model is performance oriented on the mechanical and visual front. Starting with the visual changes first, the new SUV gets a new red exterior colour, matte black alloy wheels, matte black exterior detailing, a sports oriented suspension setup, sports exhaust and more importantly, a more powerful engine.
Powering it is a 3.0-litre, twin-turbocharged V6 engine that produces 355 BHP of power and 500 Nm of torque. Yes the power figure is not the highest when compared to other Macan models. The GTS slots in between the S and Turbo. But if you ask us, the Porsche Macan GTS is more similar to the Turbo than the S mainly because it gets 20-inch alloy wheels, interior features sport seats as standard and LED headlights are being offered as optional.
The gearbox is a 7-speed PDK unit that comes with paddle shifters. The transmission helps the Macan go from 0-100 km/hr in 5 seconds with the Sport Chrono package, going all the way up to a top speed of 258 km/hr. Though it weighs around 1900 kg, the Macan GTS is one of the best handling SUVs in the segment at present thanks to the stiffer suspension setup.
Though most of the performance needs can be fulfilled with the latest Macan that has gone on sale, Porsche is expected to launch a more powerful Macan GT3 RS in the future like other models.
