Porsche Launches Cayenne Diesel Platinum Edition In India

The Indian market for SUV`s is heating up with major manufacturers upbeat about this segment. There are models priced below Rs. 10 lakhs and at the other end you have models that cost about Rs. 86.5 lakhs or even more. The Porsche Cayenne diesel Platinum Edition falls in the latter category. A top of the line luxury model, the Cayenne Diesel Platinum edition is now available in India courtesy Porsche. It is class, style and luxury through and through for those who are ready to shell out nearly one crore for the Porsche mystique.

The Platinum edition has more of everything in addition to classy exteriors and interiors that separate men from the boys. What exactly are the differences between the standard and the Platinum edition? For one, the side and center air intake grilles now have a silver platinum metallic finish. The most outstanding color is the Carrara white color but buyers have a choice of mahogany, meteor metallic gray, jet black and plain black.

Porsche Cayenne Interiors

Take a peek inside the cabin and you will not fail to be impressed with its luxury. Porsche has used leather partially in the two tone beige and black Luxor covering for the seats. Even the floor mats get the Platinum edition label. The scuff plates are similarly attired. The 19 inch wheels carry the Porsche logo and are hallmark Cayenne Design II. The headrests too have been embossed with the Porsche symbol. The most striking of all the changes is in the steering wheel. The steering now incorporates paddle shifters. Power steering plus is now available with the steering that also includes Porsche Communication Management and navigation modules, putting controls at your fingertip.

As for the engine, the Platinum edition is powered by the same V6 turbo diesel 3 litre engine with an output of 550 Nm torque and 245 HP transmitted through an 8 speed Tiptronic S automatic powertrain. What this translates to is a top speed of 217 km/hr and it takes only 7.2 seconds for the car to reach 100 km/hr from standstill. The Cayenne Platinum Edition competes with the BMW X5, Mercedes GL Class and the Audi Q7 but has its own mystique and flair, something for which buyers are more than willing to pay Rs. 86.5 lakhs. Bookings are open at Porsche dealerships.
