More powerful and sportier versions of the existing Porsche Boxster S and Cayman S have been launched in India, in the form of the Boxster GTS and Cayman GTS.
Porsche India has brought the most anticipated GTS (Gran Turismo Sport) versions of its sports cars, the Cayman and the Boxster to the Indian shores. These two new GTS models are mainly here for all the car enthusiasts looking for more power and sportiness. The Porsche Boxster GTS is priced at Rs. 1.15 crore while the Cayman GTS comes with a price tag of Rs. 1.17 crore (prices mentioned are Ex-Showroom, New Delhi).
Porsche, the German sports car maker had introduced the GTS series of cars during 1963 with the launch of the Porsche 904 GTS. Coming back to the recently launched GTS version models, let`s take a quick look at the features and engine specifications of both these models.
Porsche Cayman GTS Specs:
Engine and Performance
> The Porsche Cayman GTS will come powered by a 3.4-litre flat-six mill with direct fuel injection churning out 340 PS of power. The power output figure is 15 PS more than the Cayman S.
> All this power is channelized to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission which comes as standard or an optional 7-speed PDK gearbox. The latter helps the car to accelerate from 0-100 kmph in a mere 4.6 seconds, isn’t that faster than its manual version?
> The Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), Porsche’s electronic damping control system comes as a standard feature.
> The Cayman GTS sits 10mm lower than the standard Cayman S model.
> It also features the Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) system, which comes with a rear differential lock helping the car attain a greater cornering ability.
> While exiting corners, the rear differential lock increases the traction and hence, keeps the car planted to the road.
> The Porsche Sports Chrono Package comes as a standard feature.
> Along with an attractive clock at the center of the dashboard, it also features a Sports Plus button, which helps stiffen the suspension and steering to provide a more connected driving experience.
> For providing a comfortable and sporty drive, the company has equipped the car with dynamic gearbox mounts, which helps in reducing vibrations of the drive train and the engine.
> Mix of leather finishes the interior along with Alcantara inserts on the seats and dashboard.
Carbon-fibre inlays are also present in the dashboard and centre console.
Porsche Boxster GTS Specs:
Engine and Performance
> The Boxster GTS version comes powered by a 3.4-litre Boxer engine churning out 330 PS of power.
> The car has a top whack of 279 kmph, which is 15 kmph faster than the Boxster S version.
> 6-Speed manual transmission system with PDK box comes as an option.
> PASM, PTV and the Sports Chrono package like in Cayman GTS version are also present in this car.
