Piaggio Vespa VX and S scooters launched in Nepal starting at Rs. 2.5 lakhs
After settling down well in our country, Piaggio is now focusing on the surrounding markets and has just set up shop in the neighbouring country of Nepal. The Vespa portfolio of scooters are now available for purchase in the country with prices starting from Nepalese Rs. 2.5 lakhs (ex-showroom). The Italian automobile manufacturer will be venturing out of India for the first time with products manufactured in India, by retailing the Vespa VX and Vespa S models overseas. D-Lifestyles which is a conjunction of Dev Jyoti Group, will be selling the two scooters in Nepal.
Design wise, the Vespa VX and S remains true to the company’s philosophy of keeping it simple and being stylish as well. The VX has a round headlamp and the S model gets a more premium looking rectangular shaped headlight with a few chrome elements, lending a sporty appeal. The retro styled scooters are mostly known for their aesthetic appeal.
The Vespa VX model will be offered in a choice of five colours, namely, Dragon Red, Portovenere Green, Lime Yellow, Midnight Blue and Monte Bianco White; while the Vespa S will be available in four different shades – Dragon Red, Taormina Orange, Monte Bianco White and Matte Black. On the mechanical front, both the Vespa models derive 10.6 PS of power and 10.6 Nm of torque from a 125cc single-cylinder, 4-stroke, 3-valve engine which comes mated to a CVT gearbox. The front has a single side arm front suspension and the rear makes do with dual shocks. Both the tyres are tubeless, riding on alloy wheels with retarding power being provided by a 200 mm ventilated disc up front and a 140 mm drum at the rear end.
Piaggio will be coming up with a new 150cc scooter in India by the end of this year and the existing portfolio will be getting a range of updates as well.
