Piaggio Vespa RED priced in India at Rs. 87,009
A special edition Piaggio Vespa scooter has been launched in India. Called the Vespa RED, this new addition to Piaggio’s India lineup is priced at Rs. 87,009 (ex-showroom, Maharashtra). The said scooter has been launched in association with the RED foundation, which operates in India to fight AIDS and HIV. As part of this association, Piaggio India will donate USD 50 (approximately Rs. 3,277) to the RED foundation for each Vespa RED sold in the country.
The special edition Vespa RED 2017 comes with an exclusive all-red colour scheme, red plastic panels around the footboard area, red seat cover as well as red painted allow wheels. Vespa red emblems have been placed on both sides of the body and are finished in chrome to give a pinch of bling to the scooter’s profile.
Powering the 2017 Vespa RED special edition is a 125cc single-cylinder engine that churns out 10 bhp @ 7,500 rpm and 10.6 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm. Transmission duties are handled by a CVT automatic gearbox. At the launch, Vespa has also said that the company will be more than happy to introduce a more powerful version of the Vespa RED with a 150 cc engine if there is sufficient customer demand.
Other chassis components on the Vespa RED are similar to what is seen on the SXL 125. This includes a single arm suspension at the front and a dual-effect arrangement at the rear. Braking setup includes a 200 mm front disc and a 140 mm rear drum. There is no ABS on offer with the Vespa RED.
