October 2015: Upcoming car launches in India
With the onset of festive season in the month ahead, car makers will introduce new offerings to en-cash the festive mood hovering across the country. A variety of cars ranging from hatchbacks to performance SUVs been confirmed for launch in the month of October. Here is a list of cars that will be introduced in the Indian market during this month.
First amongst the lot is Fiat’s new model to be launched under its recently inducted premium brand Abarth. Dubbed Abarth Punto, the model is fundamentally a performance hatchback set to be launched on October 10th. Claimed to reach the 100 km/h mark from standstill in 8.8 seconds, this hot hatch is ready to outperform its rivals becoming the fastest hatchback in the non-premium segment. Bookings for the car have begun at Fiat dealerships for an amount of Rs. 50,000 and the company has started marketing it aggressively.
Maruti Ertiga Facelift
Slated to launch on the same date as the Abarth Punto, Maruti’s Ertiga MPV will be launched donning a new avatar. MSI could launch the Ertiga facelift in both regular and SHVS micro-hybrid versions. Apart from cosmetic touch ups, Ertiga facelift could also get a standard airbag for driver while an additional front-passenger airbag will be available from the L (O) trim.
Mercedes-Benz India will be bringing the replacement of the M Class SUV, christened GLE on October 14th. Other than the changed nomenclature, revisions made are confined to cosmetic updates on the outside as well as inside. Apart from these changes, the vehicle will get a nine-speed (G-TRONIC transmission).
BMW X5M & X6M
Bavarian auto maker BMW will add two models to its M range with the launch of X5M and X6M on October 15th. Under the hood will be a 4.4 litre, V8 Twin Turbo engine propagating 575 HP of power and a massive 750 Nm twisting force. Claimed top speed for these SUVs stands at 250 kmph and 0 to 100 kmph mark is achieved within 4.2 seconds.
Maruti Suzuki India will come up with yet another new model although they have brought back the Baleno moniker, this time it is used for a premium hatchback instead. Launching on October 26th, the Baleno will feature a 1.2 litre, K-Series petrol motor and the tried and tested Fiat sourced 1.3 litre DDiS motor featuring SHVS technology. The petrol engine will also be coupled to a CVT transmission.
After a long time GM India will introduce a new car in India called ‘Trailblazer’. Featuring a 2.8 litre Duramax, DOHC engine pumping out 200 HP of power and 500 Nm of torque, the SUV will get a 2 wheel drive system and a six-speed auto box. Launch date as of now is not known, but the vehicle has been confirmed for launch in October.
