The new variant is called the Special Variant, and has been launched in the Indian car market with a price tag of Rs. 11.61 lakh, (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new Nissan Evalia Special Variant has been placed above the top of the line model trim XV (O), and further expands the Evalia’s model range. The Evalia has been a pretty popular people mover from the house of Nissan in India, and with the introduction of the Special Variant, the MUV’s sales figure in the country is only expected to rise. Though based on the top of the range XV (O) model trim, the new Evalia Special Variant has many individual features to differentiate it from the XV (O). The Special Variant gets a lot of chrome garnish in the form of a new chrome strip on its face that amalgamates with the front grille nicely. The new variant also gets another chrome strip to highlight the design at the rear. It sports a new roof spoiler as well as new 10-spoke alloy wheels to set it apart from the XV (O) model trim.
On the inside, the new Nissan Evalia Special Variant retains the middle row captain seat arrangement in the MUV; it also gets AC vents mounted on the roof for the second as well as third rows, there’s classy wooden finish trims on the dashboard and also on the audio system that comes with Bluetooth capabilities, then there are map lamps for the last row passengers to take advantage of. These new features certainly make the vehicle more attractive and useful.
During the market launch of the new model trim of the Nissan Evalia MUV, the president of Nissan India, Guillaume Sicard said that the Evalia people mover is a completely new approach on the modern, flexible and multi-functional urban family vehicle. In the last couple of years, the Nissan Evalia went on to evolve as per the customer requirements and feedbacks. Now, on the new Evalia Special Variant, the company has added new features to benefit the customers in the form of some very prominent features such as the captain seats, roof mounted AC vents and sliding windows in the middle row apart from many others.
The new Nissan Evalia Special Variant comes with only exterior and interior cosmetic updates and added features, but retains all the mechanical bits under the hood without any changes made. The Special Variant also comes powered by the same 1.5 litre K9k diesel mill that is capable of producing a max power figure of 85 PS. The diesel engine is mated to an efficient 5 speed manual transmission gearbox.
