The next generation Fortuner gets rendered; launch in 2016
The world’s largest car maker Toyota Motor is finally giving the long pending complete makeover to its bestselling Fortuner premium SUV. The aggressive and highly capable Toyota Fortuner is finally going to get its next generation model in the year 2016. The upcoming next-gen Fortuner has started its test run and has been caught by the spy shutterbugs quite a few times. The all new Fortuner’s test prototype model has been always spied with full camouflage in place.
Details about the looks of the next-gen Fortuner is not known as yet, while some features are speculated. It has been also reported that the all new Fortuner SUV will be getting the same front face as that of the new Toyota Hilux pickup truck. While the basic aggressive image of the current Fortuner is expected to be retained in the next-gen model, a whole lot is expected to change as well. Now, a rendered image has surfaced on the internet, offering a look at what the all new Toyota Fortuner might actually look like.
The new rendered image of the next generation Toyota Fortuner premium SUV shows off a front radiator grille that looks highly stylized and artistic as compared to that of the current generation model. The new grille design is very unique, it is very different from that of the Innova MPV’s grille design. The overall dimensions of the new SUV seem to have become larger which will definitely result into better cabin space and enhanced comfort. The all new Fortuner retains the ongoing platform featuring IMV architecture, one of the most successful platforms from for SUVs at present.
The next generation Fortuner premium SUV will surely get a new design language that Toyota has been so ardently working on. The new design language comes with major inputs by Toyota’s Australian arm. The premium SUV will be offered for sale with the option of rear wheel drive as well as all wheel drive system. The SUV’s current 7-seater layout will be also continued. In the rendered image the muscular SUV is shown to have lost its flared wheel arches which have been replaced with slimmer ones, making the SUV appear to be on a diet plan. However, the SUV gets an aggressive bonnet that seems to be making up for the lost muscularity on the wheel arches.
The all new Fortuner is expected to get more premium in terms of looks, features and comfort. Toyota is expected to add a lot of features in order to make it braced up to handle the market competition. It will go up against the new Hyundai Santa Fe and the all new Ford Endeavour which will launch in India next year.
The all new Toyota Fortuner is expected to get powered by a 3 litre and a 2.5 litre diesel motor for the Indian car market. Since the next generation Fortuner is going to launch only in 2016, Toyota India is likely to launch a new 2.5 litre engine variant next year.
