New Volvo V40 launched in India from Rs. 24.75 Lakhs
Volvo launched the V40 hatchback in India a couple of years back in 2013. Though the vehicle did not manage to do well in the Indian market, it was one cool premium hatchback to reckon with. India was only fortunate enough to get the Cross country version which got black cladding all around the vehicle for that rugged look.
The Swedish automaker has recently launched the updated V40 in India which looks even better than before. The rough looking black cladding has been given a miss and the classy looking hatchback looks even more stunning now. The changes on the exteriors include an updated front bumper along with a new front grille as compared to the previous Cross Country version. The rear bumper has also been tweaked and the updated vehicle looks much more clean and mature to say the least.
The Volvo V40 Cross Country was available with a diesel as well as a petrol engine, but the new V40 is offered in the Indian market only with a diesel pot. It is a 2.0-litre turbocharged motor that can develop 150 BHP of power and 350 Nm of torque. These power figures are more than that of any other car in the respective segment.

All Volvos are expected to be extraordinarily safe and so is the case with the V40 as well. The car comes with a standard set of 8-airbags, while the top-end R Design variant gets additional safety features that include whiplash protection, a pedestrian airbag, driver knee airbag and a safety cage. The hatch also gets a city safety feature which allows the vehicle to brake on its own if it detects a potential crash. This very feature is only active in speeds of up to 50 km/hr.
The Volvo V40 will be competing with the likes of the Mercedes A-Class and the BMW 1-Series and the new Volvo starts at Rs. 24.75 lakhs (for the base V40 kinetic version) and goes up to Rs. 27.7 lakhs (for the top-end R Design variant). All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.
