New Volkswagen Beetle spotted testing; launching in December 2015
The soon to be launched Volkswagen Beetle car has been spotted testing in the country. The car is expected to make its entry into the Indian market by the end of 2015. It retains the iconic Beetle shape, but VW has tried hard to make it a tad bit manlier.
The car still sports the bulging wheel arches and iconic headlamps, but the lowered headline, along with a straighter windscreen gives the vehicle a sportier look. In the interiors department, the new Beetle has been given a complete overhaul. This gives the car a premium feel, and adds a huge amount of additional boot space.
Under the hood, the latest Beetle will receive 3 engine options. The first would be the 2.0 diesel motor that makes an astounding 150bhp and 235 lb of torque. The second is a turbocharged 1.8 liter 4 cylinder petrol unit, which bangs out 170 bhp and 184 lb of torque. The most powerful engine available is the 2.0 turbocharged petrol, which makes about 210 bhp and 207 lb of torque. The new Volkswagen Beetle has the option of a manual as well as a dual clutch automatic transmission. Those numbers sound super exciting, and the car would be fun to drive on Indian roads.
Other features in the car include a 400-watt music system, an array of alloy wheels to choose from (18-inch twister or 19-inch tornado), front locking differentials, sports seats, attached spoiler and a host of other customizable features. It would be super exciting to see this iconic car make its way to the Indian shores.
