New Volkswagen Beetle launching soon, bookings open
Volkswagen India has opened bookings for the iconic Beetle car. As mentioned earlier in our previous post the new Volkswagen Beetle is all set to be launched in the country next month. VW has started teasing the new model on its website and interested customers can now book the new Beetle for an amount of Rs. 1 lakh.
The new beetle is expected to be priced between Rs. 34 – 36 lakhs and will be brought to India via the CBU route. The car was initially retailed in India in 2009 but due to poor response the company discontinued the model. However, the company now feels that an iconic car like the Beetle in the company`s Indian line-up will lift the brand`s image and will also strengthen the auto maker`s commitment to the Indian buyer.
Powering the Volkswagen beetle car will be a 1.4 litre TSI petrol motor banging out 150 PS of power coupled to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission. On the safety front the car will get 6 airbags, ESP and Anti-lock braking system as standard equipment. Feature wise the car will be equipped with a panoramic sunroof, leather interiors, bi-xenon headlamps, chrome package for the interior and exterior, push button start, 16-inch alloy wheels and much more.
The new Beetle will be available in four colour shades namely – Blue Silk, Habanero Orange, Tornado Red and Oryx White. The Beetle will be retailed alongside the Polo, Vento and Jetta which are sold in India. Bookings are open for a limited number of cars through a select few Volkswagen dealerships or through the www.bookmybeetle.in website.
