Tata Motors is a company that is making its way back with a vengeance. The company has already introduced two new segment killer cars, the Bolt and the Zest. Both the cars have styling and features like never seen before in a Tata product.

Now, spy pictures of the company’s new hatchback, codenamed the Kite, have been spotted online. The car was heavily camouflaged, showing how secretive Tata is about the new vehicle`s design. From the pictures not too much could be noticed about the body design, although the overall body shape is similar to the upcoming Ford Figo (2015 model). Tata Motors has been trying very hard to change its overall image in the Indian car market. They have done heavy investment in their R&D and design projects. The outcome of these investments can be seen in the Zest and Bolt, which run Tata’s new revolutionary turbo petrol engine called the Revotron.

From what is seen of the camouflaged pictures of the car, Tata has done well in its attempt at designing the Kite. The car has a new honeycomb style grille with bulging headlamps (as seen on the i20 and Swift). The sides of the vehicle look simple, maybe Tata didn’t want to experiment too much. Exterior of the car is also so unlike any Tata car. The Kite has small sharp tail lamps, which are a big change from the typical tail lamps seen on the Indica’s all these years! As only Spy pictures were spotted online, not too much can be said about what engines would power this car. It is speculated to be powered by both diesel as well as turbo-charged petrol engines. The diesel engine is expected to be a new 1.05-liter turbocharged 3 cylinder motor. It is said to produce 64.1 BHP of power and 14.27 kgm of torque! The petrol engine would be the turbocharged 1.2 liter Revotron motor, which is currently doing duty in the Bolt hatchback and Zest compact sedan.

No official statements about the specifications or the release date of the Kite have been mentioned. Though one could expect this car to hit the showrooms soon. Reason being the Sanand factory in Gujarat, which was used to manufacture the Tata Nano, is lying without running at full capacity. The Tata Nano hasn’t been receiving as much demand it commanded as it did when it was launched. So Tata plans to produce 1.5 lac units of the Kite per year at this factory. Tata is introducing new and exciting cars, and rumor has it a new budget car like the Nano is in the pipeline too. Looks like Tata is out on an all-out attack to reclaim market share which the newer companies have been taking up!
