New Renault Espace debuts at the 2014 Paris Motor Show
Renault`s Espace crossover debuts at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. The Espace was launched by Renault 30 years ago, today the new Espace has transformed into a new-age crossover. The new Espace remains true to its concept which was showcased at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2013. The crossover is spacious and packs in a lot of technology for the well being and comfort of the passengers and driver.
The 2015 Espace will be offered with three turbocharged engines, all displacing the same capacity. The 1.6 litre Energy dCi 160 EDC uses twin turbo technology and belts out a max power of 160hp and 380Nm of torque from 1,750rpm. This engine is mated to a 6-speed EDC dual clutch gearbox which is very responsive and easy to use. The second diesel engine, Energy dCi 130 is a 1.6 litre unit that produces 130hp and a max torque of 320Nm. This motor is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The Espace will also be offered with a 1.6 litre Energy TCe 200 EDC petrol motor that churns out 200hp and 260Nm of torque.
The French car maker Renault says that the Espace offers enhanced driving dynamics thanks to the 4Control chassis (four-wheel steering). The four-wheel steering is a Renault innovation and it controls the angle of the rear wheels. On the highway the precise steering and stability of the Espace improve the car`s dynamics around corners. The 4Control chassis ensures that the Espace has the smallest turning radius in its class. This kind of technology is offered only by Renault in a crossover. The Multi-Sense system installed in the new Espace manages the electronic damper control, EDC transmission, engine sound, ambient lighting and 4Control chassis to provide an immersive driving experience.
The new crossover from Renault breaks away from the conventional MPV style and adopts a dynamic crossover look; the new Renault Espace is 4.85 metres long, 1.87 metres wide and 1.68 metres high and has a long wheel base of 2.88 metres (16mm longer than the outgoing mode) which makes the crossover very spacious. The new Espace is, more than ever, the embodiment of the French car maker`s design renaissance.
