New Pajero Sport unveiled in Thailand
Mistsubishi Motors has finally unveiled the highly anticipated new Pajero Sport mid-sized SUV in Thailand. The sports utility vehicle features an all-new design language that is sure to make heads turn.
The 2016 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport features the carmaker`s “Dynamic Shield” front fascia. It gets a fair amount of chrome, sleek headlights, LED daytime running lights, new bumper design and a sleek grille with the Mitsubishi logo placed at the centre. Coming to the rear the Pajero car features sleek vertically designed taillights and a re-modelled tail gate.
Inside the cabin the new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport gets a new four spoke multifunction steering wheel, flowing centre console, leather upholstery and brushed silver door handles. The SUV boasts of a touch screen infotainment system, electric parking brake, and “Multi Around” camera system. On the safety front it gets Forward Collision Mitigation System, seven airbags and a Blind Spot Warning System.
Under the hood of the 2016 Pajero Sport is a 2.4 litre MIVEC turbo diesel motor which is coupled to an eight-speed automatic transmission (first for a Mitsubishi car). Power figures have not yet been disclosed, but as per reports the engine will produce 181 PS of power output and 430 Nm of twisting force. Power is channelized to all the four wheels through a Super Select 4WD System.
The Japanese carmaker claims that the new SUV is 17% more fuel efficient than its predecessor. The vehicle also has a CO2 emission rating of 200 g/km which is quite good for a SUV of this size. The new Pajero Sport will go on sale in Thailand this fall, it will be available in three variants namely – GLS, GT, and GT AWD with prices expected to be in the range of 1.137 Million to 1.44 million Baht (INR 20 Lakhs – INR 26 lakhs).
After launching it in Thailand, Mitsubishi Motors will introduce it in Australia, ASEAN nations, Middle East, Africa, Latin America and Russia. We expect the Indian launch to happen sometime in 2016.
