One of the most celebrated luxury automobile brands in the world, Mercedes Benz recently provided a glimpse of Mercedes C-Class Cabriolet through a teaser sketch. All set to take centre stage at the Mercedes-Benz pavilion at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show which commences on 1st March, it will be the first convertible featuring the C-Class. Mercedes-Benz stands synonymous with class, quality and advanced engineering and the recent C-Class outshines over the retiring generation, which is the reason why more models are being added to the execs range. The C-Class Cabriolet is a sporty four-seater with a flexible top and has been fabricated on the popular coupe version.
The C-Class Cabriolet resembles the Coupe inside out, except for its metal roof which is now substituted by a soft-top that can be folded automatically. The car will be equipped with a windscreen-mounted air deflector and AIRSCARF neck-level heating. Mercedes-Benz has opted for the folding fabric roof and not the hardtop which proves beneficial in keeping the weight low and maximizing the boot space. The engine line-up doesn’t change for the Cabriolet and has been embraced from the Coupe. However, rumours suggest that Mercedes will launch the C-Class Cabriolet with a four-cylinder 2.0-L turbocharged petrol unit and with a few diesel options as well.
Expect the diesel hybrid C300 Blue Tech motor to be plonked under the hood a bit later, followed by the 4.0 L V8 Biturbo. It will be interesting to see how the C-Class Cabriolet fares against established cars in the segment like the BMW 4-Series Convertible, Audi A5 Cabrio, Infiniti Q60 Convertible and also the Cadillac ATS. Motorcruze will get back with more details as soon as the Geneva Motor Show commences, till then stay hooked!
