The Elite i20 receives 41,000 bookings in just 3 months

The second largest car maker in the country, Hyundai India has reason to celebrate. The South Korean car major has received phenomenal response to its latest launch in India, the Elite i20. Hyundai India launched the second generation i20 named as the ‘Elite i20’ in August this year. In just three months of its official market launch, the all new Hyundai Elite i20 has received more than 41,000 bookings in India, which is making it seem that the new premium hatchback is the company’s most successful model in the Indian market.

The all new Elite i20 is slightly pricier than that its predecessor, but it is more stylish and feature rich along with everything brand new except the engines. This has made the Indian car enthusiasts readily embrace the Elite i20 making it a huge success. The new Hyundai Elite i20 is still powered by the potent and efficient 1.2 litre petrol motor and 1.4 litre diesel mill options, which are mated to a 5 speed and 6 speed manual transmission gearbox respectively.

The previous generation Hyundai i20 premium hatch which was also very able and very feature rich used to clock an average sale of 3000 to 4000 units per month. In comparison, Hyundai India has delivered 6627 units of the Elite i20 in the launch month August itself. This sales figure further increased the following month, as Hyundai delivered 8903 units of the car in September. The popularity and the demand for the Elite i20 seems to be on the rise and so is its sales figure. The monthly sales number of the Elite i20 is expected to further increase in the coming months.

There are many reasons behind the spiraling success of the new Hyundai Elite i20. The premium hatch is developed on an entirely new chassis and features the latest Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 version developed at Hyundai Motor’s European design centre in Russelsheim, Germany. The car features a sporty front facia and great design with a long list of new features. It also comes with improved handling and drive dynamics and has been engineered and tested thoroughly at Hyundai’s new Nurburgring center to ensure superb performance.

Given the huge success that the new Hyundai Elite i20 has tasted in the country, Hyundai India is planning to launch a new crossover version of the car. Hyundai India has already started testing this Elite i20 crossover in India and is expected to launch it sometime next year. The new Hyundai Elite i20 based crossover will be a sub-4 meter vehicle with increased ground clearance, full body kit with body cladding and features such as projector headlamps, roof rails LED DRLs and new alloy wheels. As the hatchback turned crossover market in India is getting popular over the time, the Elite i20 based crossover is also expected to be a great hit in the Indian market similar to its hatchback sibling. The Elite i20 crossover will be pitted against models such as the Toyota Etios Cross, Cross Polo and Fiat Avventura in India.
