New Honda Greiz (Honda City) unveiled for China, looks cool
Car manufacturers all over the world try to perform well in countries that have generous number of people living, in other words, where the population is high. As a result of this, China is a major car market. Now coming to the car manufacturers in particular, there is no holding back Honda. The company retails some of the best car models the world over including the City mid-size sedan. A new and redesigned version of the Honda City will soon be making its debut specifically for the Chinese market.
Carrying the Greiz nameplate, the vehicle is manufactured by Dongfeng-Honda, which as the name suggests is a venture between the two companies. Given that the City is already on sale in China, the new Greiz will be priced at a slight premium over the model it is based on thanks to the changes that the exterior gets.
The new model gets a wing-shaped front grille that is based on a new front fascia that looks quite good. Headlights have a projector setup with LED daytime running lights. The rear design has also be played around with and the C-shaped taillight cluster gets LEDs as well in addition to a new integrated spoiler.
Though the exteriors have been played around with, interiors remain untouched. Same goes for the engine and other mechanicals as well. The Honda Greiz is powered by the same 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine that is also found in India. However, the power figure stands at 131 BHP for the Chinese market and power is sent to the wheels through a CVT transmission. Unfortunately, the City is not due for an update in India anytime soon. But when the facelift arrives, we hope Honda takes a few tricks from the model retailed in China.
