Recently at a lunch event, Honda released its Activa “3G” along with an updated Dio, Shine 125, Dream Yuga and Dream Neo, all of which have been scheduled to launch this year. There are a number of two-wheelers waiting to be launched by the manufacturer this year, and these were just a few of them. 7 models will be completely new, while 8 will be just cosmetically changed to give them a refreshed look.

The new Honda Activa has been named the Activa “3G”, which means it is the 3rd generation of the model. Though it is a refreshed look, barring a few cosmetic changes, everything is identical to the predecessor. On the exterior, the side panels have been given air-intakes along with a decal with “Activa 3G” printed on it. The front is almost identical to the previous generation, and will need a closer inspection for a person to differentiate. The tail-light has been completely re-designed and is possibly the only part on the scooter, which is different from its predecessor. The instrument console as well has been picked up from the previous model.

Honda has given an option of two new colours for a consumer to select from; Trance blue metallic & Rusty red metallic. The engine that powers this scooter also remains the same. A 109.2 cc single cylinder engine, which produces 8 PS power, and about 8.75 Nm of torque. The scooter has a CVT transmission. No changes whatsoever have been done on the suspension and brake either. Since no upgrades have been made on the exterior, we expected some upgrades on the ride quality. A trail-link set up in the front and a spring suspension on the rear has been provided, which could’ve been worked upon. However, a Combi-braking system is available as an option to stop the 10-inch tubeless tyres!

All’s not lost! Even though a few upgrades have been made, the price still remains the same. The Honda Activa 3G will set you back by 48,852 INR (ex-showroom, Delhi). This is a very competitive price. Its competitors include TVS Jupiter and the Yamaha Alpha, which are brilliant bikes! The Activa has and will always be a hot selling scooter, given its proven track record and Honda`s after sales service reliability.
