New Audi TT coupe launched in India at Rs 60.34 lakh
The new Audi TT Coupe has been launched in India priced at Rs 60.34 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The first TT was launched way back in 1998 and the latest one is a third generation model. The revolutionary sports car from the stable of Audi is touted as the most iconic car of the German auto brand.
The new TT rides on a 37mm longer wheelbase and is 50 kg lighter than the outgoing model. This weight reduction has been achieved by the use of a lot of aluminium and the new car is based on an updated version of Volkswagen`s MQB platform.
Under the hood is a beastly 2.0 litre four cylinder gasoline motor capable of banging out 227bhp and 37.7 kgm of twisting force. The TT is equipped with Audi`s legendary AWD Quattro system while the power is channelized through a 6-speed DSG transmission.
In the international markets there is a more powerful version of the TT on sale, which is called the TT S version. This 306 bhp car is not available for sale in India at the moment. There is a possibility that Audi could launch this more brutal mean machine at a later stage.
Design wise the new TT impresses you with its striking coupe profile, but now it features sharper lines. It is inspired from the Audi Prologue concept with new elements like the huge grille, massive air intakes and angular LED headlights. The rear gets a revised bumper; LED tail lamps, dual exhausts and dynamic turn indicators which are a treat for the eyes.
Inside the cabin a 12.3 inch infotainment system also acts as a navigation display. The system can be controlled through the MMI panel or the steering wheel mounted controls. The AC vents come with integrated climate control rotatory knobs which are a cool feature. Being a sports car the TT gets adjustable suspension, sporty looking 19 inch alloy wheels and full leather upholstery.
The latest Audi TT has definitely become heavier on the pocket, but it is worth every penny as it offers a mix of performance and looks. The car has a top speed of 250 kmph and does a 0-100 in just 5.3 seconds. Going by the numbers, the TT will surely keep you entertained if you decide to buy one.
