New Audi S4 and S4 Avant showcased at Frankfurt Motor Show
The Audi S4 has always been a wolf in sheep’s clothing. The present generation S4 has been well received by the fans and the new model does not disappoint either. The Audi S4 is a vehicle that looks deceivingly modest, but could hit high speeds in a matter of seconds. At the Frankfurt motor show Audi has gone ahead and showcased the S4 and S4 Avant, which have received a fresh update on the exterior as well as interior along with a lot of changes under the hood.
The S4 weighs 1630 kgs while the S4 Avant weighs about 1675 kgs. That’s a massive improvement over the current generation S4. This would help in better weight distribution and a higher power to weight ratio. The exteriors also have been mildly tweaked to make the sports sedan look more aggressive and also aide aerodynamics. The sharp lines and lip spoiler along with the twin exhaust tail pipes make the car look very stylish and elegant.
The engines have received a massive upgrade. The mammoth 3.0 Liter supercharged V6 has been replaced by a 3.0 Liter turbocharged V6. This increases the power by 21hp and 43lb/ft. of torque. This makes the upgraded Audi S4 produce a power output of about 354hp and about 378lb/ft. of torque. This new engine propels the Audi S4 from 0-100 km per hour in 4.7 seconds and it has an electronically limited top speed of 249 kmph. This is all because of the torque available from 1,300 to 4,500 rpm along with the 8-speed auto box.
The interiors to have been given an upgrade. The S4 gets special S Sport seats covered with Nappa leather and Alcantara. The doorsill trims have illuminated S4 logos. The vehicle also gets a special MMI paired along with a special S4 screen.
The S4 and S4 Avante receive Active lane assist, adaptive cruise control park assist and collision avoidance assist along with a host of safety features. An optional virtual cockpit is available and one can also get increased Internet speed with the hardware module upgrade.
