New Audi A4 spied, without camouflage
Pictures of the new Audi A4 were recently spotted online, though only of the rear. The car was seen without any camouflage, and is most probably in its initial testing phase. It’s clear from the first glance, that the car would be much larger than its predecessor. The Audi A3 was launched last year in India, and the car was the size of the A4 (more or less), so Audi had to increase this car in size.
The car, codenamed B9, has been made on the MLB Evo platform. This uses modular architecture, which combines ultra-high strength steel along with aluminum and other such composite materials, and reduces the weight of the car by upto 90kgs. The engine of the car would be closer to the center of the car, which would help in improving the already awesome driving dynamics of the car.
The consumer would have a number of engine options available to choose from which include diesel as well as petrol variants. Expect a 1.4 liter, 1.6 liter and 2.0 liter TFSI petrol engine and a 1.6 and 2.0 TDI diesel for the Indian and European markets. Expect a 3.0 V6 diesel as an option as well, while the 3.0 V6 petrol will only be for the American market. Also rumor has it that a plug in hybrid might come in the option list.
The new Audi A4 will have a complete makeover, with the front fascia receiving new headlamps as seen on the A6/A7/A8 as well as the new grille as seen on the TT. The sides will maintain the same simple profile, while the rear will get new tail- lamps and redesigned twin exhaust pipes.
Expect the car to make its way to your nearest Audi dealership by mid-2016.
