All-new 2017 Pulsar 220 Facelift Makes an Entry, Tagged at Rs 91,201


Bajaj Auto has officially introduced the Pulsar 220 facelift in the country at a sticker price of Rs 91,201 (ex-showroom, Delhi).The popular bike was first introduced in July 2007 and has received quite a few updates, generally speaking of new colour schemes. This time, Bajaj has not just focused on enhancing the appeal of the Pulsar but has also made it environment friendly with the BSIV complaint engine.

The overall profile of the motorcycle remains the same, apart from few cosmetic changes to keep pace with the new trend. The new Pulsar 220 wears a contemporary look, offers host of new features but is equipped with the same old 220 cc, DTS-I, 4-stroke, single-cylinder engine. The new model is around Rs 2274 costlier than the previous version.

The face-lift model flaunts new features and mechanical update as well, hence has been tagged little more than the one it replaces. It is now being offered at Rs 91,201 (ex-showroom, Delhi), while the previous model was priced at Rs 88,927.




All-new 2017 Pulsar 220 Dimensions

The motorcycle measures 2035 mm × 750 mm × 1165 mm and has kerb weight of 150 kgs. It offers ground clearance of 165 mm and has a wheel base of 1350 mm. The all-new Pulsar sits on 17-inch wheel shod with 90/90 – 17 tubeless tyre at the front and 120/80 – 17 tubeless tyre at the rear.


All-new 2017 Pulsar 220 Design details

The popular bike retains overall sporty design but it does get cool new graphics and few updates in the front styling. The face-lift model features blue backlit instrument console and bids adieus to the orange backlit console, new matte-grey finish exhaust and chrome garnishing, sporty rim-decals and new body graphics in white/ blue or red/ black combinations. Keeping up the pace with new age Pulsars, the bike gets updated fairing with new headlights, new taillight and a chiselled fuel tank.

The handlebar now has a matte finish and it also offers softer seats that make the riding way more comfortable both for the rider and pillion. What does not change is the split rear grab rails, semi-fairing styling, clip-on handle bars and split seats. Highlighting the standard features- engine kill switch, clip-on handle bar with pass switch, electric start, self-cancelling indicators and more.




All-new 2017 Pulsar 220 Technical Specifications

The tried and tested single-cylinder, oil-cooled, 4-stroke, 220cc, DTS-I engine powers the 2017 Pulsar 220. The power plant churns out maximum power of 21.05 bhp at 8500 rpm and peak torque of 19.12 Nm at 7000 rpm, while the transmission option available is 5-speed gearbox. The new model however gets a BS-IV complaint engine in accordance with the new emissions rules for two-wheeler coming in 2017. The engine has been refined for yielding better performance and efficiency.


All-new 2017 Pulsar 220 Suspension and Braking System

The suspension system available at the front is Telescopic with anti-friction bush and is 5-way adjustable while the rear is equipped with Nitrox shock absorbers.

The braking duty is performed by 260 mm disc and the 230 mm at the front and rear respectively. The motorbike might get an ABS as option.
