Nepal Earthquake: Mahindra & Mahindra pledges support by offering its vehicles for rehabilitation work
With more than 4310 people dead and 8000 injured in quake hit Nepal, according to National Emergency Operation Centre, Nepal is reported to have been virtually flattened. In a welcome move Indian utility vehicle manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra lent its support to Nepal by offering its vehicles for the rehabilitation work. Mahindra has confirmed that it will also provide its support to the earth quake affected areas in India as well.
Speaking to media persons Group Chairman and Managing Director of Mahindra & Mahindra, Anand Mahindra said ““At Mahindra our heart goes out to the victims of this unfortunate tragedy. The pain of Nepal is felt by each member of the Mahindra family. We do hope and pray that our humble support helps the earthquake victims in Nepal and in India to get back to normalcy at the earliest,”
This was the worst temblor Nepal had witnessed in the last 80 years. Measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale this massive tremor left the mountainous country in shambles, with Kathmandu its capital, being the worst affected. Several of the country`s historic monuments and old buildings were reduced to rubble. The Indian government has also sent its troops and armed forces to provide help and support to the devastated country.
