MV Agusta coming to India, bikes to be priced between Rs. 12-33 lakhs
With a large amount of the Indian population riding on two-wheelers, motorcycle manufacturers the world over have been mulling to enter the country at the earliest to gain a decent share in the Indian market. The increasing popularity of performance motorcycles made international brands like Ducati set up shop in India as well.
The next entrant into the performance two-wheeler segment is MV Agusta, who in collaboration with the Kinetic Group will be making its debut in November 2015. With prices starting from Rs. 12-33 lakhs (ex-showroom), superbikes coming from the MV Agusta stable displace between 800cc to 1078cc. The Kinetic Group which is based in Pune will be setting up a dealership and after-sales network for the international marquee across India.
MV Agusta is known to produce some of the most powerful and mean looking two-wheelers with a rich racing heritage. Based out of Cascina Costa in Milan, Italy, the company retails bikes that many youngsters dream of owning, thereby becoming a famous ‘poster’ company.
All products in the MV Agusta stable will not be launched right away, but all models will be brought into the country in a phased manner over the next three years. Though some of the bikes will be locally assembled through the SKD method (semi-knocked down), others will be imported as CBUs.
Homologation of the MV Agusta bikes that will be launching first has already begun and the Italian superbike manufacturer will be bringing bikes including the Brutale (675, 800, 800 Dragster, 1090), Stradale 800, Rivale 800, Turismo Veloce 800, F3 (675, 800) and finally the flagship F4. Prices are a bit too steep considering the fact that entry-level products will be priced from Rs. 12 lakhs (ex-showroom), but MV Agusta will be able to sell quite a few motorcycles given the fan following it has all over the world.
