It`s official! Mercedes has finally revealed that they will be launching the much awaited S63 AMG sedan in the country on 11th August 2015. The performance sedan was expected to make its debut in India soon after the company launched the S500 coupe and the S65 AMG coupe models very recently. Mercedes is looking to expand on its positive growth this year which made them the number one luxury car maker in the country this year in terms of total sales. The company is hoping that the upcoming S63 AMG sedan will help in garnering more customers in the ultra-luxury segment.

Mercedes had imported one unit of the sedan to our country a while back for homologation purposes and the company’s dealers had also started accepting bookings of the vehicle in the first quarter of 2015 itself. What mainly sets the AMG apart from the standard S-Class is the massive 5.5-litre bi-turbo, V8 powerhouse which churns out 577 BHP of power and 900 Nm of torque. One of the best looking vehicles in the world with a race car like engine, comes in a 4WD and 2WD avatar internationally with power being transferred through a 7-speed automatic transmission. Combined with a light-weight all-aluminium body, the S63 AMG can reach from 0-100 km/hr in 4 seconds (4WD variant) flat reaching a top speed of 250 km/hr that is electronically limited off course.

The Mercedes S63 AMG gets sportier looking bumpers, AMG quad exhaust pipes, AMG badges and AMG alloy wheels that together differentiate it from the standard S-Class on the visual department. The sedan will come with three driving modes, namely, Manual (M), Controlled Efficiency (C) and Sport (S). It is expected to return a fuel efficiency figure of around 9.7 km/l and will most likely be priced at Rs. 2.5 crores (ex-showroom). Only the elite class will be able to afford the S63 AMG sedan, which in my view is one of the best and most attractive looking luxury saloon to launch in India till date.
