Mercedes-Benz to launch GLA crossover during the festive season in India
Mercedes-Benz India- the world’s best known automobile company is on the verge of a launching spree of sorts in the present year. Now, the automobile giant is again gearing up for a splendid festive season launch.
After the introduction of the CLA 45 AMG, the top German carmaker is planning to launch a mini crossover, the GLA which is about to be exposed on the challenging Indian shores. Expected to be launched in October, the company has already started getting pre-orders for its new creation and is expected to begin deliveries somewhere in November. The booking amount for the much-awaited GLA is approximately Rs. 2 lakh and its price would be around Rs.30 lakh.
The GLA crossover will have to compete with a couple of top-selling cars of this segment namely the Audi Q3 and BMW X1, especially in Indian market. The stylish GLA crossover is totally based on the MFA (Modular/Mercedes Front Architecture) platform. The crossover features bi-xenon head-lamps in the front which are infused with LED daytime running lights. Some of the other prominent features of the GLA include front and rear parking sensors, active parking assist, nine airbags, dual-zone climate control, navigation system, reversing camera along with an audio system having six speakers coupled with Bluetooth connectivity. The stylish GLA also has many fuel-saving features including stop-start with radiator grille shutters which enables improved fuel economy.
The German automobile giant is expected to roll out its GLA crossover with both, diesel and petrol engine options. The petrol trims might be powered by 1.6-litre engine which is capable of producing a power output of 156bhp with a peak torque of 250Nm. On the other hand, the diesel range is expected to house a 2.2-litre power train good for 135bhp and 300Nm. Both the motors will have one thing in common, a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. In the past Mercedes-Benz introduced a handful of AMG variants in India to satisfy the appetite of motoring enthusiasts. We also expect the German car maker to bring its AMG version of the GLA crossover as well.
