Maruti Vitara Brezza outguns the Ford Ecosport in March sales
Maruti`s compact SUV Vitara Brezza outgunned the Ford Ecosport in March sales. While Ford managed to sell 4,456 units of the Ecosport in March, Maruti sold 5,563 units of the Brezza during the same month.
With over 40,000 bookings in its kitty since launch, the Vitara Brezza now has a waiting period of up to five months (depending on the variant). With prices starting from Rs.6.99 lacs to 9.68 lacs (ex-showroom Delhi), Maruti has priced it very aggressively and the top end trims are loaded with segment leading features. To counter the threat from the Brezza, Ford had to reduce the pricing of the Ecosport by almost a lakh for each variant.
On the mechanical front the Vitara Brezza gets its juice from a 1.3L DDiS oil burner that bangs out of 90 PS of power and 200 Nm of twist coupled to a 5-speed MT. The Brezza delivers a class leading ARAI certified mileage of 24.3 km/l.
The Ecosport on the other hand is powered by two petrol engines – a 1.0-L EcoBoost and a 1.5-L Ti-VCT engine. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 5-speed MT while the latter is equipped with a 6-speed Dual Clutch gearbox. There’s also a 1.5-L TDCi engine on offer which churns out 100 PS of power and an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 22.27 km/l.
We will have to wait and see if the Vitara Brezza manages to maintain its supremacy over the Ecosport in the coming months.
