Maruti to sell YRA premium hatchback through Nexa showrooms
Maruti Suzuki India`s largest car maker has been the top player in the small car segment. It has been very successful in the hatchback space with cars like the Alto, Wagon R, Ritz and the Swift to name a few. The company`s attempt to cater to the premium segment a couple of years back with the Kizashi sedan and the Grand Vitara failed miserably due to high pricing and the perception in people`s minds that Maruti cars should be easy on the pocket.
In order to change that perception and be treated as a serious player in the premium car space, Maruti is launching new dealerships branded under the name “NEXA” which will cater to the premium products sold by the company. The upcoming Suzuki YRA hatchback will be sold through these showrooms, which will give the customers a unique buying experience. The YRA will compete with the likes of the Hyundai Elite i20, VW Polo and Fiat Punto.
Initially Maruti has inaugurated 30 Nexa showrooms in the country and plans to increase this number to 100 outlets by the end of this financial year. The dealerships will only sell the S-Cross initially and more premium products will be added to the list at a later stage. The Japanese carmaker is quite optimistic that it will find success in the premium segment through these showrooms. The company has also hired 1000 seasoned professionals from different sectors like hospitality, aviation and finance to provide advice and assist customers at the Nexa outlets.
