Maruti Suzuki YBA compact SUV moves closer to launch
Maruti Suzuki will soon be launching their own product in the compact SUV segment of India to take on the Ford EcoSport and Mahindra TUV300. The Maruti YBA compact SUV which is based on the iv-4 concept is expected to be priced lower than the S-Cross. But we aren’t sure as of now whether it will be sold via the premium Nexa range of showrooms or not.
The company will be keeping the YBA SUVs length under 4 metres to gain benefits from various excise duties. Looking from the range of spy pictures that display the SUV, initial impressions are definitely good. In fact, it looks to be inspired from the Vitara model that is retailed by Suzuki in international markets. The front has a big airdam, tapering window-line and horizontally stacked taillights. A lot of chrome elements might be given to the front grille, much like the S-Cross crossover as well. Though its overall design will definitely be rugged, body and wheel arch cladding will most likely be given a miss. Top-end variants will get 16-inch twin 5-spoke alloy wheels as seen in the pictures.

Interiors of the Maruti YBA (iv4) SUV will be similar to the more recent cars from Maruti Suzuki including the SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system and safety will be given importance as well. As per the spy shots, interiors might carry an all-black design theme.
Powering the Maruti YBA (iv4) will be the same set of engines that are currently found on other models from the company. Petrol engines will most likely include the 1.2-litre and 1.4-litre powertrains, while diesel power should come from the popular 1.3-litre Fiat sourced engine. The YBA will feature Maruti Suzuki’s newly-developed engine, but this is only expected to happen in the future.
Reports suggest that the production version will be called iV-4, but this is still a speculation. Like the Baleno, Maruti Suzuki should price the compact SUV very aggressively.[Spy pic source – Autocarindia]
