Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza teaser sketch

Maruti Suzuki has released the first teaser sketch of the Vitara Brezza which will be the company`s first compact SUV. The last few years has seen the growth of the compact SUV segment in the country and Maruti is eyeing for a sizeable share in this space with the launch of the Brezza. Touted as the next big launch in the country, the car will make its debut at the upcoming Auto Expo next month. The Vitara Brezza`s launch will subsequently happen a few weeks after the event.

Design wise the teaser sketch reveals the side profile of the Brezza which looks similar to the XA Alpha concept which was showcased at the 2012 Auto Expo. The compact sports utility vehicle gets high ground clearance, wrap around taillights, chunky looking alloy wheels, sloping roofline and muscular wheel arches. Not much can be said about the front design but it is quite evident from the image that the SUV exhibits a sporty look.
On the mechanical front the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is expected to be powered by the same engines that power the Swift hatchback. Petrol power will come in the form of a 1.2 litre motor which bangs out 85 PS of power and 114 Nm of twisting force. The diesel motor will be a 1.3 litre unit that will generate 75 PS and 190 Nm of torque. Both the engines will be coupled to a 5-speed manual gearbox. An AMT gearbox could also be offered on the petrol powered Brezza.

Brezza which means fresh-breeze in Italian, will be first compact SUV from the car maker to be launched in the Indian market. More details about the car will be revealed prior to the Auto Expo. Once launched the Vitara Brezza will lock horns with the likes of Ford Ecosport, Hyundai Creta and the Renault Duster. Expected to be priced between Rs. 8 to 11 lakh, the Brezza looks like a promising product from Maruti.
