Maruti teases Vitara Brezza, international unveil on 3rd February [Video]

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza teaser video

The next compact SUV in the Indian utility segment will come from the country’s largest manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki. To be called the Vitara Brezza, this will be the first proper rival from Maruti Suzuki to the Hyundai Creta; as the S-Cross had a disappointing turnaround in terms of sales. The Vitara Brezza will be having its international debut on 3rd February at the upcoming 2016 Auto Expo. To create more hype in the country, the company has just released the SUV’s teaser video showcasing most of what it is going to look like.

Brezza, which means fresh breeze in Italian will be reigniting the Vitara nameplate in our country. The video takes the name’s meaning forward with a veil covering the whole SUV as wind tries to blow it off. However, the short 15 second video does reveal a lot of the Vitara Brezza, especially its front end. The front has a muscular bumper with a rectangular air intake. Round fog lamps are topped off by additional rectangular reflectors. Then come the projector headlights with LED daytime running lights and a big chrome slat on the front grille.

None of the rear has been showcased in the video and the design hence remains a mystery. The side profile however features black ORVMS with integrated turn indicators, blacked out pillars, flared wheel arches and twin-5 spoke alloy wheels. Maruti Suzuki seems to have done an impressive job on the compact SUV. It manages to look very aggressive and sporty, with the dual-tone paint scheme being an added bonus. Aesthetic wise, the vehicle should be able to attract many customers, which for a start is good news as the S-Cross was a big disappointment on the design front.

Mechanically, under the hood will be the well-known 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel engines. Power will be sent to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox. The company may even offer the CVT automatic transmission as an option. With prices expected to range between Rs. 8-10 lakhs (ex-showroom), the Vitara Brezza will compete with the likes of the Ford EcoSport and Mahindra TUV300 in the sub-4 metre category other than the Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster, Mahindra Scorpio, Tata Safari and others.
