Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza might get AMT version in future
All of Maruti Suzuki’s latest news has been revolving around the recently showcased Vitara Brezza compact SUV. The SUV managed to create quite a hype at the 2016 Auto Expo and the Indian car major will be looking to master the utility space for the first time with upcoming model. To be launched in the country soon (though no launch date has been made public as of now), the Vitara Brezza will only come with the tried and tested 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine at the time of launch. A petrol motor will only be plonked into the compact SUV at a later stage.
Capable of producing 88.5 BHP of power and 200 Nm of torque, the diesel engine will be paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox. However, according to certain sources, Maruti Suzuki will be launching an AMT variant of the Vitara Brezza in the future. Availability of an automatic version is of utmost importance nowadays given the fact that more and more customers are opting for the same thanks to the ease of driving in congested city traffic. Maruti Suzuki will launch the AMT unit when all the necessary approvals have been acquired.
Vitara Brezza is an important product for the Indian car major because it is the first model to be completely made in India from ground up over a period of 5 years. This has helped the car to carry localisation levels of a massive 98 percent.
The company’s Executive Director – Engineering and R&D, CV Raman said that the Vitara Brezza will be a very good car to consider in the sub-4 metre compact SUV space as it will come loaded to the brim with comfort, entertainment and safety features. Few of the safety features will include ABS with EBD and dual front airbags. As a matter of fact, the SUV is the first car from our country to be tested for offset and side impact compliance by the International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT).
