Maruti Suzuki to set up new dealerships for their premium cars

Maruti Ciaz

Maruti Suzuki has made a comeback in the premium segment with the launch of the Ciaz

Maruti Suzuki has been India’s favourite automobile manufacturer. It has always catered to the masses as well as mini logistics companies, from the iconic Maruti 800 to the Swift, to the Omni, which is still in production after so many years. It has however tried a few times to break its stereotype as a small budget car manufacturer and break into the premium segment. Its attempts failed miserably though.

The company first tried their hand by adding the Grand Vitara to its portfolio, which didn’t manage to garner any handsome figures. The car`s lack of a diesel option, as well as exorbitant pricing kept the consumers away.  Maruti Suzuki then got the Kizashi, which failed miserably again, and was sold away at heavy discounts to clear stock in the end.

Maruti Suzuki now has a new strategy. They plan to open new dealerships, which will only cater to the premium cars in their portfolio. They plan to upgrade their sales and service departments to attract the consumers. The company plans to set up new showrooms and dealerships specifically for its premium cars. This is a huge attempt by the company to shed away its image of being a mass market carmaker, and be taken seriously in the premium segment.

Maruti has had its fair share of failures, ranging from the SX4 to the Grand Vitara to the Kizashi. These cars had their fair share of flaws that put the consumers off. That being said, Maruti wants to set things right this time. They plan to introduce a new compact SUV, along with the S-Cross.

The company plans to start with Delhi and Mumbai with their new showrooms, and plan to add an additional 30-35 in major cities across the country. We have a strong feeling that India’s favourite manufacturer might have got it right this time around.
