Maruti Suzuki S Cross launching in India on August 5, 2015
Maruti Suzuki`s highly anticipated S-Cross crossover will be launched in India on the 5th of August. The new Maruti car will be retailed only through Nexa dealerships, which will only sell the Japanese auto giant`s premium products.
The S-Cross will be powered by two diesel engines. Both the engines have been sourced from Fiat. The popular 1.3 litre multijet diesel engine bangs out 90 PS of power and 200 Nm of torque while the more powerful 1.6 litre multijet mill produces 120 PS and a healthy 320 Nm of twisting force. Both the motors are coupled to a five and six speed manual transmission respectively. The ARAI claimed mileage figure of the 1.3 DDiS is pegged at 23.65 kmpl while the 1.6 DDiS returns 22.7 kmpl. The smaller engine does the 0 – 100 km/h sprint in 13.2s while the larger motor hits the ton in 11.3s. Maruti will be offering the S-Cross in only the front wheel drive format. The company may consider launching an AWD version of the S-Cross at a later stage.
The Maruti S-Cross is well kitted with features like rain sensing wipers, LED DRLs, navigation system, 7 inch touch-screen infotainment system, reverse parking sensors and the works. When launched the S-Cross will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster and the Ford Ecosport.
