Maruti Suzuki Celerio diesel launched at Rs. 4.65 lakhs (Ex-showroom Delhi)
The Celerio has been a very good selling hatchback for Maruti Suzuki for quite some time. This was further accentuated with the fact when the model was offered with an AMT transmission as well, accounting for almost a third of the car’s sales in the country. Maruti Suzuki has widened the choice of the car by launching the Celerio diesel at a price range of Rs. 4.65 lakhs to Rs. 5.71 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi).
It is powered by the all new DDiS 125, twin-cylinder 793cc engine which can generate a maximum power of 47 BHP at 3500 RPM and a maximum torque of 125 Nm at 2000 RPM. The engine comes paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox and the hatchback claims to return a fuel efficiency figure of 27.62 km/l according to ARAI. This makes the Celerio diesel the most fuel efficient diesel passenger can in the market at the moment.
The company has invested more than Rs. 900 crores for developing this engine which is made in-house with a localisation of 97 percent. It is also the lightest engine in the country weighing just 89 kgs, which tips the scale for the top-end trim at 900 kgs.
The car is offered in four variants – LDi, VDi, ZDi and ZDi (O). The top-end variant ZDi (O) gets ABS and dual front airbags, while the ZDi only makes do with a driver side airbag and misses out on ABS completely. The Celerio diesel is offered in six colours which are the same as its petrol counterpart.
The Celerio is also available with a CNG kit which is priced at Rs. 4.85 lakhs. The manual versions in comparison are priced between Rs. 3.90 lakhs and Rs. 4.96 lakhs, while the most popular AMT fitted models come at a price of Rs. 4.4 lakhs and Rs. 5 lakhs respectively. Maruti Suzuki has sold more than 95,000 units of the Celerio so far which was launched in February 2014. Having introduced the Celerio with a diesel engine, the hatchback is expected to perform even better in the sales department now on.
