maruti baleno safety features

Maruti Suzuki’s premium hatchback Baleno has been welcomed by Indian buyers with open arms; it has already crossed the 1 lakh booking mark since its launch in October 2015. The hatchback is being offered at price range of Rs. 5.11 lakh for the base model to Rs. 8.16 lakh for the top-spec model and can be seen locking horns with the Volkswagen Polo, Hyundai Elite i20 and Honda Jazz. The delightful exteriors, feature-loaded interiors and the reliable motor, makes the mid-size hatchback Baleno a complete package. Sales figures according to recent reports reveal that the Baleno has surpassed the i20 in the segment and has emerged as a clear winner.

Under the hood, the Baleno is equipped with the tried and tested engines seen in Swift; the K Series 1.2-L petrol unit churns out 84 PS and peak torque of 115 Nm, while the DDiS 1.3-L diesel unit on the other hand bangs out 75 PS and peak torque of 190 Nm. Both the units are mated to 5-speed manual transmission; the petrol variant offers a 5-speed CVT as an option. Reports suggest that the Japanese car maker plans to introduce new engine options for the premium hatchback at a later date; the 3-cylinder 1.0-L BoosterJet producing 110 PS and 170 Nm might serve the Baleno in future.

Maruti’s distinct liquid flow design can be seen increasing the aesthetics throughout the length of the car. The projector headlamps featuring LED Daytime Running Lamps, slanting roof-line towards the rear, chrome accents and LED-interlined tail lamps imparts a very muscular and powerful look to the exteriors. The interiors look classy and elegant and looks a bit inspired from the Swift. Highlighting the safety features, Baleno sports dual airbags and ABS as standard across all variants. India is the global manufacturing hub for Maruti Suzuki’s Baleno and is the first Indian auto maker to export the Indian manufactured car to its parent company in Europe and Japan.
