Maruti Suzuki Baleno commands six-month waiting period
The Maruti Suzuki Baleno which was launched last year in October has been well received by the Indian market. The premium hatchback has amassed close to 70,000 bookings, beating its main competitor, the Hyundai Elite i20 in December 2015 sales. Maruti sold 10,572 units of the Baleno last month, which is quite a big feat taking into the fact that this is a very competitive segment.
As per recent reports the huge demand for the Baleno has resulted in an increase in the waiting period for the hatchback. Moreover, as the company is exporting the car to international markets like South America, Europe and Africa the waiting period is expected to remain at six months. Maruti will be increasing the production to ensure the waiting for the premium hatchback does not go beyond six months.
The Maruti Suzuki Baleno is sold through the company`s premium dealerships branded Nexa. The car is smartly styled on the exterior and the cabin is loaded with a host of features on the top spec model. The Baleno is available with both petrol and diesel engines. The petrol motor is a 1.2 litre engine that generates 85 PS of power along with 115 NM of torque coupled to a 5-speed manual transmission. The petrol variant is also available with a CVT automatic gearbox. Diesel power comes from the proven 1.3 litre DDiS motor which bangs out 75 PS and 190 NM of twist. The petrol variant has an ARAI claimed mileage of 21.4 kmpl while the diesel boasts of a segment leading 27.39 kmpl.
