Maruti S-Cross unveiled; to be launched in 8 variants with two engine options
The much awaited Maruti S Cross has been recently unveiled in Mumbai. The new Maruti SUV will be launched in August 2015 and will rival the likes of the Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and the upcoming Hyundai Creta.
The S Cross will be available with two diesel engine options – 1.3 litre and 1.6 litre oil burners. The more powerful 1.6 litre mill produces 118bhp of power output and a healthy 320 Nm of torque. On the other hand the 1.3 litre DDiS unit bangs out 89 bhp and 200 Nm of twist.
The more powerful 320 DDiS unit will be coupled to a six speed manual transmission, is capable of breaching the 100 kmph mark from standstill in 11.3 seconds, and has a fuel efficiency figure of 22.7 km/l. The lower powered 200 DDiS motor is mated to a 5-speed transmission unit, has a claimed mileage of 23.65 km/l and does the 0-100 kmph sprint in just 13.2 seconds. The Suzuki SX4-Cross will not feature All-Wheel-Drive and automatic transmission technology at the time of launch.
On the Safety front the Maruti S Cross is equipped with dual airbags; disc brakes with ABS are offered as a standard feature across the range. The SX4 Cross is made of high tensile steel which will fully protect the occupants in case of a collision. In terms of features the Maruti SUV gets Rain sensing wipers, Climate Control, Cruise Control, automatic headlights, 16-inch alloy wheels, Bluetooth connectivity, steering mounted controls and a seven inch infotainment system with navigation.
The S-Cross will be available in five colour schemes namely – Pearl Arctic White, Premium Silver, Granite Grey, Caffeine Brown, and Urban Blue. The new product from Maruti will come in a total of eight variants which are – 1.3L Sigma, 1.3L Sigma (O), 1.3L Delta, 1.3L Zeta, 1.3L Aplha, 1.6L Delta, 1.6L Zeta & 1.6L Alpha. It will be sold in India through Maruti`s premium Nexa Showrooms.
