The new Swift 2014 facelift gets push button start, keyless entry, new audio system and many other features

The new Swift 2014 facelift comes loaded with new features to beat the market competition and give its rivals a tough fight. The top variants of both the car’s petrol and diesel versions ZXi and ZDi of course get the best of the lot. The feature list includes keyless entry (i key), pushbutton start-stop, automatic climate control, tilt adjusting steering wheel, driver’s seat height adjuster, new MID screen on instrument cluster, new audio system with Bluetooth connectivity, steering wheel mounted illuminated controls, additional reading or map light and 60:40 split rear seats. Safety features include dual front airbags, reverse parking sensors, new generation ABS with EBD and Boost Assist System for braking as standard.

Though the new Maruti Swift gets powered by the same engines, both the engines have been tweaked for better fuel economy. The Swift petrol version gets powered by the same 1.2 litre 4-cylinder K-Series motor that now offers a max power of 84.3PS as opposed to the previous models higher 87PS, but the torque figure has been increased to 115Nm as against the earlier 114Nm. The enhanced fuel efficiency comes from the changes made to the compression ratio that now ensures a certified 20.4kmpl against the previous 18.5kmpl.

The new Swift 2014 diesel avatar comes with the same 1.3 litre DDiS mill that still delivers 75PS of power and 190Nm of torque as before, and is now has an ARAI certified mileage of 25.2kmpl as opposed to the previous 22.9kmpl owing to the tweaked ECU of the car.

Though the new Maruti Suzuki Swift 2014 facelift comes with pretty comprehensive changes, its prices have only marginally increased. The premium hatchback’s variants are now dearer by Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 24,000 depending on the model trim. The Swift’s market rivals are Hyundai Elite i20, Fiat Punto Evo, Volkswagen Polo and the upcoming Tata Bolt.
