Maruti Dzire tops the sales charts for July 2014
The Indian auto industry has been witnessing some steady growth in the past few months. There has been a steady uptick in auto sales with improved customer sentiment. It comes as no surprise that Maruti Dzire topped the charts for July in terms of car units sold, even overtaking the more affordably priced Alto, showing that customer preferences are changing but not all that much. Maruti sold over 18,634 Dzires in July 2014. The Alto’s sales were a bit on the lower side at 16,997 cars for that period but considerably lower when compared to 30,499 cars sold in May 2014.
Honda City and Bolero from Mahindra are in the top ten. Maruti has 6 cars which feature in the top 10 cars list. The Hyundai i20, a hit with customers, does not feature in the list because the company stopped production of the old models to make way for the Elite i20 that is now available in dealerships across the country.
First launched in 2008, the Dzire went on to become a hot favorite. It was priced just right at around Rs. 5 lakhs and was fuel efficient with an ARAI certified mileage of 19 kmp/l. The Dzire is a favorite family car because it has enough space on the inside, features a boot for luggage and Maruti`s fantastic service network make it the most preferred choice of consumers, in the compact sedan segment. Improvement in wheelbase and stability as well as engine performance are also responsible for its popularity and it is not surprising that it has climbed to the top of the charts to become the bestseller for July.
