When launched the Celerio diesel will be the most fuel efficient car in the country with its claimed mileage of 30 km/l

Maruti Suzuki India`s leading car maker is the preferred choice for a majority of car buyers in the country. This is due to the Japanese carmaker`s huge sales and service network along with the low cost of spares. Maruti has some of the top selling hatchbacks under its umbrella which only adds to the brands USP. Being a volume player in the Indian market, Maruti has understood the demands of the market and launched new products at regular intervals to keep itself at the top of the game. This time around it’s the Celerio with a diesel engine that Maruti has chosen to launch.

The Celerio which was launched last year with a petrol heart was an instant hit and the waiting period for the AMT variant was pegged at 4 months. To give the hatchback a further push to improve sales, Maruti will soon be launching the Diesel Celerio in India. The Maruti Celerio`s diesel engine specifications need a special mention here, with the 793cc, twin cylinder oil burner capable of producing 35PS of power and delivering an extremely impressive mileage of 30 km/l, making it India`s most fuel efficient car. This diesel unit is also expected to power the forthcoming LCV codenamed the Y9T.

Maruti Suzuki will start dealer dispatches of the Celerio diesel this month which indicates a launch date in the first week of June. The diesel hatchback is expected to generate a huge demand and Maruti would want to keep the dealer stockyards stocked with enough cars. As the car is expected to come without an AMT option we believe the waiting period would be quite low. The car is expected to be priced between Rs 4.5 – 5.75 lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi), and could possibly become one of the top selling cars in the coming times. Also on the cards is a bare bones Celerio which will be introduced for the taxi market to tap the demand in that segment. When launched it will compete with the likes of the Chevrolet Beat (Diesel) and Grand i10.
