Maruti to boost Vitara Brezza production to 1 Lakh units in sight of rising demand
Maruti Suzuki’s much highlighted entrant in the compact SUV segment, the Vitara Brezza is getting a shot in the arm. Yes you heard us right! We had reported earlier that Maruti Vitara Brezza bagged 25,000 bookings within just two weeks of its launch. But what follows behind this immense success is a lot of flak the automaker is receiving for its huge waiting period. The compact SUV currently commands a waiting period of about 6 months at present which easily is the biggest deterrent for prospective buyers.
Now, this news should come across as a huge relief to many, the waiting period for the Vitara Brezza is slated to go down as Maruti has ramped up its monthly production and the yearly production figure will now stand at 1 lakh units. Currently, the monthly production of the Vitara Brezza is 80,000 units per annum. Maruti Suzuki, as in reports has dispatched more than 6,000 units of the compact SUV already since its launch. Learning from the previous circumstances with Baleno, the carmaker is taking advance measures to address this issue. Baleno brought back the lost glory of Maruti Suzuki, while the Vitara Brezza added just another feather to its cap.
Most of our readers would be well aware that just the diesel trim of Vitara Brezza is out for sale presently. The DDiS 200, 1.3-L, 4-cylinder diesel unit is seen doing duty, which churns out peak power of 92 PS at 4000 rpm and torque of 200 Nm at 1750 rpm. The engine is coupled with a 5-speed manual gearbox which powers the front wheels. Launched on March 8, at an initial price tag of Rs 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the compact SUV is already giving nightmares to the recently introduced Mahindra Nuvosport and the popular Ford Ecosport in the segment.
