maruti baleno safety features

Iconic body, muscular stance and innovative features, this is how Maruti Suzuki introduced Baleno to the world. The blockbuster model stands true to its description which made the customers fall in love with this premium hatchback. Owing to its rapid success the auto major decided to come up with a CVT (Continuous Variable Transmission) option on the Zeta variant as well. Prior to Zeta, the automatic CVT option was available only in the Delta model ever since its launch in October last year. It is important to mention here that Maruti Suzuki offers the CVT option exclusively on the petrol models of the Baleno.

Maruti Suzuki Baleno’s range-topping petrol variant- Zeta will now be equipped with an automatic CVT (Continuous Variable Transmission) gearbox and has been priced at Rs 7,47,701 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Customers opting for the Delta variant can now savour features like smart key with start/stop button, chrome door handles, rain sensing wipers, MID unit, height adjustable driver’s seat, steering wheel wrapped in leather, alloy wheels, multifunction speedometer display and UV cut glass. The list doesn’t end here; you’ll find front footwell, illuminated glovebox and cargo space as well in the Zeta model. Features included in the standard kit of the Zeta automatic are SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay.

Maruti Suzuki offers the Baleno in petrol as well as diesel trim. The 1.2-L petrol unit churns out a power output of 84.3 PS and peak torque of 115 Nm; the 1.3-L diesel motor on the other hand produces 75 PS of maximum power and 190 Nm of peak torque. Both the engines are mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. It’s only the Delta and now Zeta petrol variant that is being offered with a CVT option. While looking out for an automatic variant customers do not wish to compromise on creature comforts and are willing to spend few extra bucks. Customer feedback has therefore compelled the carmaker to bring forth a new variant. Apart from Maruti Baleno, Volkswagen Polo, Hyundai i20 and Honda Jazz can be seen competing in the premium hatchback segment.
