Maruti Baleno attracts waiting period of two months across range
Launched at an introductory price of Rs 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), Maruti’s premium hatchback Baleno has garnered a healthy amount of bookings so far. Within two days of launch, MSI received as many as 4600 bookings for the premium hatchback implying acceptance among customers. With a good response from customers, Baleno is currently attracting a waiting period of two months on both petrol and diesel variants. Even the automatic version available on the Delta petrol variant has been received well by the customers and is roping in good numbers. The Hyundai Elite i20 and Honda Jazz rivalling hatchback from Maruti Suzuki India is currently available at a lucrative price of Rs 4.99 lakh for the base variant only until Diwali. As hinted by Maruti officials, MSI may hike price of the hatchback post festive season.
Retailed at NEXA dealerships, the Baleno hatchback is the company’s second premium product launched this year. Maruti Baleno dealers however are encouraging customers to choose higher trims instead of opting for the base Sigma variant. Placed one notch below the top-spec Alpha trim, Zeta also offers ample features at a lucrative price, hence it is also a popular option among customers.
Maruti Suzuki India had mentioned at the launch of the Baleno that it is a global model and India is the first market to get the hatchback. Hence, the company will launch the premium hatchback in other international markets too. Underpinning the new light-weight platform, the Baleno is around 100 kgs lighter than the Swift which makes it a better performer on the road. Available in 1.2 litre, K-Series petrol and 1.3 litre DDiS diesel engine choices, the Baleno line-up comprises of nine variants including eight manual and one automatic trim offered on the Delta petrol.
With features like 16-inch alloy wheels, LED DRLs, projector head lights and SmartPlay infotainment system with Apple CarPlay available on the top-spec Alpha trim, Baleno seems to be a tough nut to crack in its segment. Moreover, the imposing fuel efficiency of 27.3 kmpl claimed by diesel variant makes it the most frugal option in the B segment.
