Mahindra TUV300 images without any camouflage leaked prior to launch
Mahindra’s next upcoming vehicle, TUV300 will be launched in the country on 10th September 2015. However, the compact SUV has just been completely spied sans any camouflage in Bikaner, Rajasthan, revealing the whole exterior design of the vehicle. Carrying a boxy characteristic as Mahindra’s had revealed at a press conference earlier. Overall, the Mahindra TUV300 is a good looking car.
The front design reminds one of the SUVs coming from the Jeep stable, carrying the same vertical blocks of chrome slats in the grille. The front bumper is very simple with square fog lamps and a rectangular airdam design. The side profile is very neat as well with big 10-spoke alloy wheels, roof rails and simple lines. Overhangs on both the ends are very short and the D-pillar has been blacked out. The rear profile sadly reminds us about the not so famous Quanto. The tailgate mounted spare wheel gets a bulky cover, there is a footstep for climbing into the rear and the taillights carry a boring vertical design.
Coming to the interiors, the TUV300 will come with a dual-tone beige and black layout, steering mounted controls for added comfort, 7-seater layout (2+3+2) and an infotainment system with AUX, USB and Bluetooth connectivity. According to the company, a new mHawk 80 diesel engine will be powering the upcoming compact SUV. This engine will most likely be a reworked 1.5-litre 3-cylinder mill that also powers the Quanto.
Power will be sent to the front wheels only through a 5-speed manual transmission. The SUV will not be offered with AWD given that none of the SUVs that tuck under the 4-metre mark are offered with the same. One of the spied cars had an AMT unit as well, signifying that Mahindra will be debuting the unit with the TUV300. Mahindra should be able to price the SUV well given it will be able to stay away from excessive excise duties. The TUV300 should manage to do well in the country as it looks the part, but also due to the fact that it will come with an automatic transmission as an option.
