Mahindra TUV300 compact SUV coming in September
Mahindra & Mahindra India`s leading Utility vehicle manufacturer will be launching a new mini SUV named TUV300 in September 2015. This move will enhance the company`s position in the SUV space in the country.
M&M Executive Director Pawan Goenka told PTI that the TUV300 is a proper sub 4-metre SUV and not a crossover which is what other auto manufacturers are offering nowadays.
He said that more details about the product will be shared before the launch which will happen around mid-September. The Mahindra TUV300 will be a true blue SUV in the compact segment.
The TUV300 will compete with the likes of the Ford Ecosport, Fiat Avventura, Hyundai i20 Active and the Toyota Etios Cross. Mahindra`s first compact SUV was the Quanto which was introduced in 2012, but it failed to capture the market like the company`s other products such as the Bolero and Scorpio.
On the design front the TUV300 has been inspired by a battle tank with a tough looking stance, high ground clearance, flat bonnet and an aggressive looking grille. The new SUV has been designed on a completely new platform and features a new engine and chassis.
The small SUV from Mahindra will gets its juice from an engine based on the Mhawk motor. Dubbed as the mHawk80, the engine has been exclusively designed at the company`s Chennai plant. The TUV300 is a global product and Mahindra will soon start exporting it to other countries once it is launched in India.
