Mahindra Scorpio gathers more buyers than Tata Safari, Nissan Terrano and Renault Duster
Mahindra, the established Indian based auto manufacturer is a pioneer of the Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) segment. Scorpio is the most desired SUV, from inception over a decade ago till now. In 2014 September, the Scorpio sold 6,060 units overtaking Tata Safari, Nissan Terrano and Renault Duster.
Mahindra Scorpio leads the pack followed by Renault Duster with 3,410 units, Safari with 1,768 units and Nissan Terrano with 1,768 units. Scorpio posed the hardest challenge for its rivals during the month of September 2014, apart from creating a vast variation; the sales figures of Scorpio are higher than the overall sales of Safari, Terrano and Duster put together which is 5,920 units.
This is surprising as the new Scorpio was launched on 25th September at an introductory price of Rs 7.98 lakhs and sales of the older version have not declined. The new Mahindra Scorpio comes with massive cosmetic modifications on the exteriors and interiors.
The new Mahindra Scorpio facelift is a potential game changer; the company has other interesting products to look forward to, such as the 2016 Bolero, also a modern-day version of the current model, with solid cosmetic changes inside out. S101 is a compact SUV manufactured in collaboration with Ssangyong, and will directly compete with the Ford Ecosport when it is launched. The recent spy images of the S101 revealed front bench seats which are a first in this segment.
The 2014 Mahindra Scorpio is priced between Rs 8.99 to 13 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi.
