Mahindra S101 (KUV100) teased ahead of its official unveiling on 18th December
Mahindra is all set to bring its first petrol SUV ‘KUV100’ early next year in January. Prior to the launch, the SUV will debut on 18th of December. The Kompact Utility vehicle (As Mahindra has named it), will be slotted beneath the TUV300 in the line-up and will rival upcoming models like Tata Nexon and Maruti YBA. Various spy shots of the SUV internally called S101 have been surfacing on the internet giving a glimpse of the SUV. However, the company has teased the forthcoming vehicle on its official website indicating at the imminent launch.
This is going to be the second vehicle from Mahindra to underpin a revamped monocoque platform. The Mahindra KUV100 will be rolled out in 1.2 litre, three cylinder petrol and diesel engine choices. A five-speed manual gearbox will be paired to both the engines. From what is known so far, the compact SUV will feature a six-seat layout (3+3) offering ample leg and head room. Moreover, the 3+3 layout hints that the gear lever is placed on the dashboard.
Gizmos likely to be seen aboard the Mahindra KUV300 include audio controls on the steering wheel, rectangular air-condition vents on the central console and infotainment system with small display. On the outside, Mahindra KUV100 features large doors highlighted by prominent creases and sharp shoulder lines. Targeting B segment buyers, the SUV could be priced between Rs 4 lakh to Rs 6.5 lakh.
