Mahindra Reva flags off India’s first electric car expedition
Mahindra Reva flagged off the first ever electric car expedition organized in India featuring three electric Mahindra E20 vehicles. These three cars will travel across the country starting from Kashmir in North to Kanyakumari down south. During its long itinerary, these cars will cover a long distance of 5000 kms. Through this expedition the company aims to demonstrate the utility and range offered by the electric car.
Besides, the company also wants to bring to notice the advantages of driving the Reva E20 which provides instant acceleration, a small turning radius and zero emissions. Mahindra Reva E20 will travel across 52 destinations around the country, other than the above mentioned pointers the company also wants to highlight the clutch less driving experience offered by electric cars.
Present at the commencement of the expedition, the Chief Executive Officer at Mahindra Reva, Mr. Arvind Mathew commented that through this expedition the company plans on providing a firsthand experience of driving an electric car which is an economical option. He further added that more than the experience, Mahindra is looking at creating awareness regarding the benefits of driving an electric car. Being a pioneer in the segment which is currently ignored in India, Mahindra Reva is trying to bring to customers’ attention the abilities of the electric vehicles through this expedition, he concluded.
Mahindra Reva E20 houses an electric motor under the skin which is capable of churning out 26 PS of power and 54 Nm of twisting force. An automatic gearbox is paired to the electric motor; the auto box offers two driving modes including a normal mode and power mode. Moreover, the electric motor enables the Reva E20 to propel to 50 kmph from standstill in just 4.3 seconds. Claimed top speed for the electric vehicle is around 81 kph.
