Mahindra recalls XUV 500 For Glitch In Side Curtain Airbags Software
Mahindra`s XUV 500 has been recalled for a glitch in the side airbag software. The company has informed that it will be contacting specific customers to make an enhancement to the side curtain airbags software.
The company claims that XUV 500 manufactured before July 2014 only have been affected by this recall. While we`re not sure how many vehicles have been affected by this recall, it may involve all XUV`s with side curtain airbags manufactured before July 2014 and this procedure will not involve change of any mechanical parts.
The software upgrade will be done free of cost by Mahindra and customers affected by this recall will be contacted directly by the representative of the company. Last year Mahindra recalled the Scorpio EX variant for preventive maintenance of parts for vehicles manufactured between May 2012 and November 2013.
Mahindra has created a special micro-site where customers can check online if their vehicle is affected by the recall. Customers need to punch in their Mobile number, email ID and vehicle serial number to find if their vehicle falls under the recall.
The Indian automaker is also readying an updated version of the XUV 500 which will be launched during the second half of 2015.
